Some 1,800 farmers from Urdaneta City in Pangasinan can now consider themselves among the Graduates of 2015, after they completed a three-month agricultural course.
For three months, the farmers attended a course via radio on sustainable goat production with emphasis on organic agriculture, GMA Dagupan’s Joyce Segui reported.
“Far-flung areas maabot, maiapalam sa kanila,” said Maricel Dacapias, project officer of the Agriculture Training Institute Region 1.
Dacapias said that while the farmers need not attend classes in a classroom, they are given quizzes to gauge how much they learn.
And like other graduation rites, this class has its share of honor students, whose productivity had improved due to the course they took.
“Malaki ang maitutulong sa proper management,” said Darwin Solis, the class’ top achiever. — Joel Locsin/LBG, GMA News
